Transition to Employment Services
The Transition to Employment Services Program offers job search, workplace and occupation related skills to assist unemployed individuals obtain employment in Grande Prairie and area.
Services will be individualized and customized to the job seeker’s needs. They will include:
- Identification of short and long-term employment goals
- Interest assessments and career planning
- Exploration of occupational and training requirements related to employment goals
- Resumé and cover letter preparation
- Interview skills
- Personal presentation and networking skills
- Access to Northstar Digital Literacy assessment and training modules
- Virtual employment-related sessions
- Labour market information
- Effective job search techniques
- Job matching
- Workplace supports
The cost of short-term certificate courses can be covered if they are determined to be required to obtain employment.
Our goal is to make a successful match between job seeker and employment opportunity and to provide the follow up support necessary to maintain the job.
Client Eligibility:
- Be ready, willing and able to work
- Be unemployed or under-employed (working on average of less than 20 hours/week)
- Alberta resident
- Be 18 years of age or older and legally entitled to work in Canada
- Primarily designed for job seekers with current or previous Employment Insurance involvement or those who have paid sufficient premiums in 5 of the last 10 years.
